Hunger

Hunger
by Lisa McCourt Hollar

A blizzard was brewing and the sky was darkening. At first we thought they were survivors of an accident. We had heard the sirens and seen the smoke. Some of the men jumped in their trucks and took off to help.

Then they came, dragging themselves over the snowbanks, their limbs twisted and broken. We wondered why they hadn't waited for help. Then we saw their eyes. They were dead.

We are in the warehouse, those of us that managed to fight them off...those of us that weren't eaten. But they are still out there. And I am hungry.
