Sticks And Stones

My Menage Monday Entry

Sticks And Stones
by Lisa McCourt Hollar

"Debbie, come on! Quit hiding and get in the house!"

Susan stood at the backdoor, growing more impatient. Damn that girl. She was going to make her look bad to their parents.

"No, not our parents. That's the difference between my life now and how it should be. Dad marries Beth and I get stuck watching HER brat. I was fine being a single child."

Still, Susan felt a twinge of guilt. Debbie was annoying, but still..."I should have been nicer to her."

Susan's angry words echoed in her head. "MY FATHER SHOULD HAVE LEFT YOU IN THE DUMP HE FOUND YOU IN. YOU'RE NOTHING BUT GARBAGE!"

"And I'm a bitch." Susan headed towards the front of the house, thinking she should check the front yard. Just then she heard tires screeching and a loud crash. Running to the front door she opened it and saw a car speeding off. Tire marks in the road led to their trash can, squashed. A bit of red was beginning to pool around the can. Susan's heart thudded in her ears and she felt woozie. Her vision blurred and she felt her spirit lifting from her body and rushing to her sister's side.
