Avenging Angel

Avenging Angel
by Lisa McCourt Hollar

Walter looked over his shoulder. He didn't see anyone watching, but he looked up and down the street anyway, just to be sure. Mrs. Timmons was the one he was most worried about. She had almost caught him looking in the window of that pretty red head. That had been nearly five years ago, but the old hag made sure he knew, that she knew, what a degernerate he was.

That fuckin' cunt is the reason he didn't often indulge himself this close to home. As head of the neighborhood watch, she had made him her project. Every time he walked out the door, she was looking out her window, watching him.

Not tonight though. The bitch had left five minutes ago. Walter had watched through the cracks in his blind. The old bitch had come running out the door, like her house was on fire. She'd jumped in her car and took off towards town, nearly waking the dead the way the tires on her Benz were squeeling.

Walter chuckled. He wondered what she would make of it, when she got to the hospital and found out that her daughter had not been involved in an accident. She would surely suspect he had been behind the call, but she wouldn't be able to prove it. And even if she could, so what. It would be worth it to get a peek at the sweet thing that had just moved in.

Walter had known the minute he'd seen her earlier that day, that he would have to see what was underneath that tight shirt of hers.
Now, with Mrs. Timmons out of the way, nothing was going to stop him. Her house was surrounded by shrubbery, so once he was concealed from the road, he would be in no danger of being spotted by passing motorists, or the old hag returning home.

A light was on towards the back of the house. Walter grinned; it was the bathroom and she hadn't put curtains up yet. He moved as quietly as he could and peeked in the window. He was fairly certain that with the light on inside, she wouldn't be able to see him.

"Damn girl." Walter felt himself growing hard when he caught sight of his new neighbor. She was in the shower and unlike the shower curtain in his house, this one was clear. Walter pressed his hand against his crotch and began rubbing the erection that was struggling to get out of his pants. His eyes went back and forth between watching her shower and looking to see if he could find a way into the house.

Normally he just watched, but every now and then he liked to take things farther. Those were the special cases. This woman was going to be one of the lucky few.

Finished with her shower, the woman wrapped a towel around herself and left the room. In the next room, a light came on and Walter nearly screamed with joy when he heard the sound of the window opening. Holding his breath, he counted to ten and then quietly stepped over to the opening. Her back was turned, so she didn't see his face appear in the window.
Even if she had, Walter knew he could make it through the frame before she could make it to the door. He had been doing this for quite a while and he hadn't had one get away yet.

His shoe made a scraping sound on the window sill, and the woman turned, just as he was stepping into the room. She froze. Walter grinned, wolfishly, enjoying that first glimmer of fear that showed in her eyes. Then she smiled too.

"I was hoping it would be tonight."

"You were?" Walter was confused.

"Yes. I heard about you. You are Walter, right? You live in the gray house at the end of the road."

Now Walter was even more confused. She had only just moved in that day and he had been careful not to let her see him watching her. And he had been watching her house all day. She hadn't spoken with any of the neighbors and especially Mrs. Timmons. "How do you know that?"

"I hear things. You have a very bad habit you know. Peeking in windows and watching women in the shower." She shook her head and made a clucking sound with her tongue. "I know you know that is wrong."

"Who have you been talking to?" Walter pulled a switchblade out of his pocket and flipped it open. He intended to make this cunt suffer. He would find out who was talking about him and go after them too. He wasn't going to risk anyone dropping his name about."

"Relax, I'm not going to tell anyone." She took a step towards Walter, dropping her towel to the ground as she did so. Walter's heart skipped a beat. Her body looked even more perfect than it had when he'd seen her in the shower.

"You...you're not?"

The woman shook her head. "I've kinda got a bad habit of my own." She reached out and stroked his hair, her fingers caressing each strand. Walter thought his jeans were going to burst from the strain of his erection.

"Umm, what would that be?"

She smiled at him, her eyes hungry. Licking her lips, she leaned in close and whispered in his ear, "I eat people."

Walter screamed and tried to pull away, but her fingers were now wrapped tightly in his hair. Biting into his neck, the woman tore his throat open. When she pulled back, her mouth was covered with blood. Her eyes were glowing, an eerie yellow color and as Walter struggled to breathe, he saw his face reflected there. He recognized the fear in his eyes. He had seen it in the eyes of every woman he had raped and murdered over the years. He knew now who she was. She was their avenging angel.
