Valentines Gore

I was supposed to post something yesterday for the vamplit blog hop, but due to computer issues and then spending 4 hours at the ER with my daughter, that didn't happen. Please click on the bloody heart on the left and visit other great blogs that are participating. At the bottom of this page, leave a comment and be entered to win a copy of my collection, Flashes From The Grave. I will be giving away 5.

I have never been fond of Valentine's Day. Below is a poem I wrote a few years ago that expresses the pain this day can cause. But what wonderful ideas a horror writer can find on this bloody day!

Written for {item:1352213}

Prompt: Must include the words
Valentine, Heart, Love, Pink, Lies, Pain, Misery and Forever!

Valentine Gore

Sitting alone, tear filled eyes
Pain, misery, Surrounded by lies.
He said he loved me, Forever he swore,
Beaten and resentful, broken and torn.

My heart lay in pieces, carved from my chest,
Amid twisted ribbons of holiday jest.
The love that I felt, spilled on the floor,
Amid all the pink, Valentine gore.

  1. Unfortunately, this happens all too much, Lisa. I'm sorry that a lady as sweet as you should have been subjected to this.

    Happy Valentine's Day from a friend!

  2. All bad valentines are a distant memory. My husband has made me sappy on the holiday. But it is still fun to imagine horrible things, lol.

  3. Alrighty then! I've killed my ex in many different ways in stories. Bad blaze!
