Love's Perdition
By Lisa McCourt Hollar
My heart withers from the pain,
Of being torn, beating, from my chest.
The hole, exposing my soul
To your disease.
Lies, deception, betrayal,
Festers inside my heart,
Infecting, spreading…killing,
The love that we once had.
You said you’d fix it,
Then cast my heart into the abyss,
Burning our love in Perdition’s flames,
Whilst slowly I died inside.
Great poem, Lisa! I've felt this stuff before!
