Karma's Bridge

This is my story for #FridayPictureShow

Karma’s Bridge
By Lisa McCourt Hollar

A rope bridge stretched in front of her, fog obscuring the other side. Gram’s voice called, but fear held Tracy back. What if she fell?
It was the same dream she had every night…every night except last. Last night she knew what would happen if she fell. It was Ted’s voice that had mocked her through the mist.
When she woke, Tracy went to the backyard.  Gardening always relaxed her. Except she found the rose bush dug up, Ted’s body gone.  A voice whispered. Turning, she saw him, grinning through decaying lips. He held the shovel she’d buried him with.

Parent's! They're All The Same.

Written for The Friday Picture Show. Check it out.

Parents! They’re All The Same.
By Lisa McCourt Hollar

“What do you think?”

Rhonda looked at her daughter’s hands. Like her friend’s, they were covered with skulls of various size. The first thought that came to mind was gaudy.

“Where are you going,” she asked suspiciously.

“Talia and I are hanging at that new club.”

“The Devil’s Lair? No.”

“Why not?”

“You’re too young.”

“I’m 250.”

“You still have your baby fangs. You can ‘hang’ at Kid-E-Koffin’s.”

“Talia’s mother is letting her!”

“If Talia’s mother let her play in the sun, would you?”

Skulking off to her coffin with her friend, Missy growled, “Parents, they’re all the same. Hopelessly old.”
