Chained

Chained

Feet In Chains

“The first time that I met her was in the woods.”
Jarrod kept his voice low, watching the woman on the beach. Her ankles were in chains and the tide was coming in.
“So what’s the plan?” Thomas asked.
“No plan. Night is coming and there’s a full moon.” Jarrod chuckled. “They’re in for a surprise.”
The group taunted Ashley, throwing rocks at her. One hit her face, splitting her lip. It was Tanya. Ashley stared at her through bangs that covered her eyes and grinned.
“I don’t blame you for hating me,” she said, her voice growing husky, “but your husband tried to rape me…”
“Liar!” Tanya threw another rock. This one hit her in the stomach.  “You killed him!”
“And drank his blood,” Ashley growled, covering her stomach with her hands. “It nourished my child… as will yours.”
“You are a monster!”
“You have no idea.”
“Did she just say, her child?” Jarrod shifted his weight, ready to run out and defend her, even though he knew she was capable and the sun had not yet gone down. He was safe in the shadows but even in the waning sun, he would burn.
“Is it possible… it’s never been heard of before?” Thomas looked worried.
The sun finally fell and the moon began it’s slow rise, but Ashley didn’t have to wait. With a roar that deafened those around her she shifted. Loosening the beast, Ashley fed, careful to save two for her vampire lover and his friend.

Alien Convention

Alien Convention
By Lisa McCourt Hollar

“You’ve got to be kidding me?” Thinking he had stepped into some weird version of The Twilight Zone Johnny Walker surveyed the room. Red, the color of crimson was splattered across the walls, mixed with a rainbow of green, blue and orange.
“I told you, they take this seriously.” Sean Franco shook his head, trying not to chuckle at his partners dazed look. It was his first year in town.
Before him, an alien with a large lobed head and sharp teeth sputtered indignantly.
“I want them arrested! This is NEVER going to come clean.” He gestured to his suit, an already gaudy color that even the most hardened pimp wouldn’t be caught dead in. A large collar rose up in the back, covering the back of his bald head. Johnny assumed he was referring to the red paintball splotches that  were soaking into the fabric. Behind him a bevy of women, dressed in costumes befitting Star Trek characters, giggled.
“You should thank me, Ferengi. I improved the look.” The woman leering down at the offended ‘Ferengi’, pointed a paint ball gun at him, shoving it into his chest.
“Did you see that officers, she threatened me.”
“Threatened you?” The woman laughed. “Ferengi, wait until tonight. You’ll see what threatened is.”
“Let’s go,” Sean said, turning towards the brothel door.
“Aren’t we going to arrest her? She did threaten him…I think.”
“Foreplay,” Sean said. “Get used to it. You should see Vegas when the Beany Baby convention comes to town.”
