A Conversation In The Mirror

Written for One Stop Poetry and the One Shot Wednesday.

A Conversation In The Mirror
By Lisa McCourt Hollar

You told me you loved me
But that was a lie,
For you love no one,
Not even yourself.
You hide behind your walls,
Shutting out friends, family
Anyone that reaches out
Searching for the you they loved.

You terrorize your soul,
With your destructive ways,
Tipping the bottle
Or swallowing pills.
 And you will die alone,
if you don't get some help
To leave this hell
You've created yourself.

  1. Unfortunately, to differing degrees, I've been on both sides of this one; understanding the speaker, as well as the one addressed. Great poem.
